Web Design For The Twenty-First Century

Work

Here are three examples of web development projects, each offering a different kind of solution.

User friendly web authoring program

This site was made with an inexpensive web authoring program that allows the client to do their own updates and keep the site current without incurring further expense or waiting for the web designer. It is easy to use and has a wide range of types of pages including photo albums, blogs, contact pages. The many design templates are interchangable.

For this client, I provided template customization, setup, training and data input as well as some guidence in what to include and referrals for image sources.

Targeted audience and staged development

This website was made in stages so the client could project a budget over time.

Logo design and identity had to match earlier materials. Targeted audience needs included; large type, ease of navigation, and quick download time for slow connections. The straight-forward navigation and look and feel of this site allows happy users to easily find the information they need and get it in a timely manner.

A later stage included chapter events schedules, previously available only in print. Schedules are updated as they come in from each chapter, and provide the most current information for the club. Each chapter is found by clicking on a map that takes the user to his or her State or Province.

Online Sales

The main goal of this site is the announcement of a new book. There are notices of the author's events, a reading at a bookstore or the University and other events related to the book.

An additional feature: The website provides an option to buy the new book. It sends an email to the author with payment posted to her account and an address for mailing to the customer.
